I thought it would be good to give everyone an update of what’s to come with The Colony in the next month. First off, I don’t have to do political comedy anymore with my comic as told directly from my editor. I only have to submit four more comics in closing of my cartoonist position that I’ve held for nearly three years now. I decided around at the start of 2020 to get serious with my role and put in some real effort in creating each comic. Hence you’ll noticed the redesigns if you go back enough and compare them from then to now.
I love making comics ever since my days in middle school. The Colony itself is actually based off of a couple comic series I used to make for my own enjoyment. I actually have those collected in a think binder in storage still. Might show them off here and there. But that’s for another time. Anyhow, with The Colony I can absolutely see myself continue to make and share with you all. That is to say, at the moment. I know of creators that one day their interest just drops in what they’ve been making for some what ever reason. I like to think that won’t happen to me at all, or at least far enough where I can comfortably see myself tying off The Colony as another entry in that thick binder I mentioned.
That said, I have soooooo many ideas where I want to take The Colony after my position ends in early to mid May of 2022. Characters to introduce and develop (that includes current ones). Places and storylines to explore. Partial tweaks to some designs and improve upon (believe me I’m learning new things everyday). And a certain story arc that needs finishing now that I can do what I want very soon (the siege arc will finally come to an end).
I’ve laid out a list in order of what I have in mind in terms of my comics content in order this year.
1. Four more comics that lead into The Colony’s Espionage arc/finishing the Elden ring fanart.
2. Tying up the final part of The Siege Arc.
3. Starting The Colony Espionage arc.
4. On and off comics from The Colony that don’t deal with major story implications, perhaps minor then. I have an ending in mind, but by no means do I want to rush it. This comic is going to be long term.
5. Another potential story arc.
That’s about what I have planned out. I plan in May, once I’m out of school and in the work force, to have a more detailed time table of specific comic content this year. As my upcoming job after graduation will likely be a major factor of what I can plan to put out. So no direct promises yet.
Until then, I want to thank you all who enjoy The Colony. So far its been good, but once I’m given total reign of what I can do, I know it’s going to be great. I would be lying if I didn’t say making comics is my dream. I’ve had to put it off for a while due to life implications and past self being in a worse space mentally. But things have gotten incrementally better as I’ve pushed myself to be someone I can respect. So I’m darn proud to have kept the The Colony going. To that end, I would be lying as well if I wasn’t to say I could see myself making comics full time. Thankfully Patreon is still around and other outlets that I could try, but my best shot at the moment is having enough Patrons support my efforts. So I humbly ask you to become a patron at a moments notice. I’ll leave my Patreon link down below along with my other socials if you wish to support those as well too.
Thank you all for everything!
